A home hot tub offers an amazing amount of enjoyment while also providing significant health benefits. It’s become quite popular to have a hot tub installed as many people are recognizing these advantages. Tired and aching muscles feel rejuvenated after the swirling jet action of the water caresses the entire body. Hydrotherapy is recommended by healthcare professionals because they understand that the buoyancy of the water, combined with the heat and the massaging effects, actually contribute to a sense of well being. Blood pressure is often lowered after spending time in a hot tub and blood circulation is increased. Home hot tubs are truly an investment in personal enjoyment and health.

To keep your hot tub working efficiently, it’s vital to have a cover for it. The water needs to be kept as clean as possible and a cover will not allow debris, leaves or twigs to enter the hot tub, dirtying the water and possibly even damaging the unit. A cover also keeps the heat inside the hot tub, thereby creating an energy savings while ensuring that the water’s temperature will always be at an optimal level.

Although covers are a vital part of maintaining a hot tub, many people feel discouraged about correctly using a spa cover. The problem develops after the original cover becomes weighed down with moisture. Typically, a new cover made of a durable material and insulated to retain heat, is about 25 pounds. At first, the cover is easy to take on and off the unit, since the weight isn’t an issue.

Over time, however, the accumulation of moisture makes the cover quite heavy and difficult to manage. Some people may then only uncover part of the unit, but the full enjoyment and use of the hot tub is greatly diminished. There is an easy remedy for this situation and it’s called a spa cover lifter.

There are a couple styles to choose from, and of course, the way the covers operate will determine the price. One type uses a mechanical lift to pick up the cover from the hot tub. Another model is designed to assist you in pushing or pulling the cover on or off. One of the key features of a cover lifter is the ability to hold the cover safely off the ground. This protects it from damage and can ultimately save you the cost of a replacement if the cover gets dented or ruined as it is moved.

To properly operate a spa cover lifter, there needs to be at least two feet worth of space from the hot tub and the surrounding enclosure. Although some lifters do not require such a large clearance, it’s better to have the additional room in case it’s needed.

Before purchasing a spa cover lifter, determine exactly how it works. The investment of a lifter makes owning and using a hot tub more enjoyable, since there will be no problems lifting the cover on or off the unit. Being able to safely remove and replace the cover will also keep the cover free from damage. And once the spa cover lifter has done its job, you are free to enjoy the welcoming warmth of your hot tub.
